One Week Only:

A loose holiday tradition at my workplace is a “Mixchange”, which is not only a word I cannot spell, but an exchange of Mixes. I was in charge this year and proposed a theme of music that inspired dancing. Why is anyone’s guess.

Anyways, I’m fairly pleased with the flow, though the fade-outs of some songs make the silence a bit much in between. It’s heavy on 2011, but has a few earlier nuggets sprinkled in.

Fun Facts:

• “Eumenides” is the least dancey of the bunch, but turns into a dance party at the end of the song. I put it first as a trick. Plus it leads nicely into the goth-dance party.
• Tennis Boyfriend / Tenisu no boifurendo (in poorly written Japanese) may be my favorite song ever (I think I once listened to this for a good three hours straight). The lyrics loosely translate to “Always so very healthy / Tennis Boyfriend / You’re very good”
• “Jesus Camp” the original is an acoustic whine fest that is not very good. The Remix is a full on club banger that I couldn’t stop listening to. Thanks for the free download, Filter Magazine.
• SBTRKT only wears tribal masks. He also eschews vowels.
• At an Ellie Goulding show earlier this year, I convinced someone pushing to the front to stop and go stand in someone else’s vomit. Fear my wrath.
